I've been so busy lately and I'm so, so, so, sorry that I haven't had a chance to write here recently because of it. On the Nanowrimo front, things aren't going too badly, of my 50,000 words ~I've written 30k, but for the same reason that I haven't been able to write here I haven't been able to write much novel either, so I'm a little behind my own personal schedule. My brother's coming home from uni today as he doesn't have lessons or lectures on a friday or thursday this semester, hopefully with him home things will be a little less stressed and I'll have more time to write.

I went to the Birmingham write in for Nanowrimo last week and intend to go this saturday as well as it had a good sense of community and was really worthwhile for inspiring me again, after a week of non-stop writing your enthusiasm does tend to wane. So If any Birmingham nanoers read this then I'll see you on Saturday!

To try and save time, I've tried to do some hasty video blogs (vlogs) instead, and although I now have five made from the last few days, both Youtube and this blog seem to be rejecting them so I haven't been able to upload anything, which is a shame as I rather like them (despite my frequent 'umm'ing). So if anyone has any advice then do let me know.

And now I have to walk the dogs so I will have to leave you here. Sorry.

Bye.

Monday, 2 November 2009

It's the second day of Nanowrimo and for a girl who didn't know what she was going to write about my story certainly seems to have flourished, having written nearly 14,000 words in the past two days (no mean feat when your parents won't stop arguing).

I settled yesterday on a rewrite of a novel that I started a while ago by the name 'John'. I was offered a publishing contracted for the, at the time, unfinished novel but turned it down, partly because I didn't want to jeopardise my A levels by focusing on drafting and re-drafting a novel; but also because I wasn't happy with it. 17 year old me, apparently was a lot worse at writing than she thought she was, or maybe I was just in a bad place then.

I'm much happier with it this time around. Although I'm using my old notebook for the novel for information on all the superstitions, medical disorders and geography etc that I use in the novel, as well as time lines, important details character biographies, sketches etc, I have discarded everything that I wrote before and am starting completely anew, a thing I've wanted to do, but haven't been able to, up until now. This version, is more emotive, the structure is better, everything seems to gel a lot neater than it did the first time around- it's just, by far and away a better piece of work. Unpolished! But much better.

For your entertainment- above is a bad mobile phone photo of my note book, in all it's highlighted, stickered, book marked glory!

So, Nanowrimo has inspired me to do something I've wanted to do for a long time and I'm feeling great for it. But it also inspired me to do something that made my mum scream. My aggravation with my hair falling into my face whilst I'm trying to write pushed me to the edge earlier today; prompting me to take a pair of heavy-duty scissors to it and cut it into a far more manageable bob (whose gonna see me, i'm either at home writing or at the gym at the moment- lol, Nanowrimo's turning me into a recluse!).

Since I did promise you a newer picture of me, at what is currently a four stone weight loss, and because I know you would just love to immortalise the hay stock that is my hair forever on the internet before I can get to the hairdressers next week then I have taken (yet another) crappy mobile phone picture for your viewing pleasure.

So until tomorrow (or later today actually as it is now one in the morning) Goodnight and God bless!
